Marbut padded resume, claims Seattle Times

WASHINGTON STATE'S RESURGENT baseball program, on the eve of opening Pac-10 play and off to its best start in more than a decade, was dealt a major blow today in a front page story by The Seattle Times detailing disparities in head coach Donnie Marbut's resume and questionable transactions while at Edmonds Community College.

The Times alleges financial improprieties from when Marbut helmed the program at Edmonds prior to his arrival at WSU.

In the story, the second-year Cougar head man, who has led Washington State to an 18-6 record this season, denies the financial improprieties. Of the false resume entries, Marbut is quoted as saying some were errors made by others, some he never noticed and others were his own honest mistakes.

WSU's senior associate athletic director Marcia Saneholtz is quoted in the article saying Marbut will "continue to be our baseball coach."
