PULLMAN -- After failing to find paydirt the first two scrimmages, the Cougar offense came alive during Saturday, finding the end zone four times. The defense, however, held the Cougar running game to under the century mark and less than 4 hashes per carry as all four scores by the offense came via air. Running back Kevin McCall runs downfield with defensive lineman Terence Simmons in pursuit. The junior's day included four carries for a team-high 46 yards, including the day`s longest running play, a 27-yarder that started to the right before McCall reversed field and took it all the way down to the three yard line.

Safety Michael Willis is making a strong bid for playing time this spring. "He'll really come hit you," Doba said.

Alex Brink sets up with the offensive line during Saturday's scrimmage at Martin Stadium. Setting the tone early, Brink hit Jason Hill for a a 42-yard touchdown strike. The Cougs' starting quarterback was six of nine for 75 yards with two scores.

Versatile tight end Tony Thompson is rapidly is proving that he's more than just a long-snapper. Thompson had two TD receptions Saturday.

Arkelon Hall sets up before locating his target. The play resulted in a touchdown to tight end Tony Thompson, one of two TD connection between the pair on Saturday. Hall was 6-of-10 for 27 yards including the two scores.

Running back Dwight Tardy gets taken down by Terence Simmons. Tardy has had a good spring but found little room to run behind his offensive line on Saturday.

Safety Michael Willis, involved in a tremendous collision with DeMaundray Woolridge the day before, didn't shy away from contact Saturday, making a number of crunching tackles. The secondary, however, was unable to prevent four scoring passes on the day.

CB Tyron Brackenridge was in high spirits Saturday at Martin Stadium. The senior looked to be in fine form despite missing some of the spring due to a slow-to-heal hamstring.

Loren Langley at the point of impact as he attempts a field goal. The junior kicker was good on all four PATs, but missed his only attempt, wide left from 41 yards out.

Quarterback Alex Brink hands off to DeMaundray Woolridge Saturday during scrimmage. The sophomore-to-be running back gained 26 yards on 11 carries.

Receiver Brandon Gibson attempts to get by CB Jeremiah Doehne Saturday at Martin Stadium. Gibson, No. 1 on the pre spring depth chart at flanker, had two catches for seven yards.

Sophomore walk-on RB Jace Perry looks for room against a stingy Cougar defense. The Camas, Wash., native his final two prep season rushed for over 1,200 yards and 17 TDs, averaging 9.0 yards per carry while logging 17 sacks in 17 games.

Linebacker Lamar Brumfield was part of a defense Saturday that allowed 254 total yards, but could not keep the offense from scoring four times. In the previous scrimmage, the Cougar offense accounted for 311 total yards, but no scores.

Defensive tackle Matt Eichelberger following Saturday's scrimmage. The defense was held without a sack for the first time in three scrimmages.

Senior left defensive tackle Odell Howard leaves the field Saturday on crutches. No immediate information was available after Howard was examined by several trainers and eventually helped off the field.

Alex Hamill is among those competing for playing time at the linebacker position this spring behind starters Scott Davis, Steve Dildine and Greg Trent.
