WSU ENTERS the National Letter of Intent signing extravaganza with 24 expected Cougars-to-be -- but also a few question-marks. If all goes as expected, and one surprise has already popped up, look for the Cougs to wrap up the day with, among other things, the No. 1 JC safety prospect in the land; four highly regarded o-linemen; a quartet of sleek CBs; and two of four state Blue Chips.

Wyman Alexander, a 6-2, 245-pound linebacker out of Coffeyville CC who took an official visit to Pullman this past weekend, will sign with Washington State today, Coffeyville head man Jeff Leiker told Cougfan.com early this morning.

"We have a couple kids signing today with Washington State, Devin Giles and Wyman Alexander," said Leiker.

Editor's note: Cougfan.com will be bringing you wall-to-wall recruiting coverage throughout the day, including a continuously updated list of players whose LOIs have been received; a late lunch-hour visit for CF.C subscribers with one of the best recruiters in the business, a name we mentioned early and often from prep and JC prospects during our recruiting calls over this past year — WSU recruiting coordinator Greg Peterson — in the CF.C chat room; and much, much more. Now, back to the story . . .

The Cougars' expected haul on the offensive line hasn't gotten a ton of attention this recruiting season, but facts are facts. Of the three prep pickups, Andrew Roxas of La Canada, Calif., and Steven Ayers of Bellingham, are rated among the top 100 in the nation at their position.

The other prep hoss is Kevin Freitag and if you were wondering about how good he might end up, his coach, a veteran of 34 prep seasons, said in an article published yesterday on CF.C Freitag's further along at this stage than another Cougar lineman he also coached -- WSU Hall of Famer Mike Utley. Freitag, along with QB Marshall Lobbestael, are two of only four players in the state dubbed blue chips (capable of college stardom) by the Seattle Times.

In addition, mammoth JC hoss Vaughn Lesuma is already enrolled at Washington State, taking part in voluntary off-season workouts, and could very well be an instant answer at the open starting right tackle spot for the Cougars this season.

So there you have it -- a very quick sneak peek. CF.C will keep you up to the minute as the LOIs roll in.

When all is said and done, we expect the class to include the following names -- and maybe more. CF.C has received late word from prep and JC coaching contacts who tell us there could possibly be a couple more recruits heretofore not mentioned who might sign today, stay tuned) Many of those listed below are multi-dimensional athletes, with their other possible position assignments in parenthesis when applicable.
