Ich bin ein Cougar! German center coming West

TONY BENNETT appears to be continuing his international approach to recruiting, with the report today from Scout.com that a 6-10 center from Germany is headed to Pullman. He'll join a Washington State team -- ranked No. 13 in the nation in this week's polls -- that already includes players from Serbia, Australia and New Zealand.

"Fabian Boeke has made his decision. He will enroll at Washington State. This news was announced today," Moritz Korff, a writer for European Basketball told Scout.com's Don Yates.

Boeke, writes Yates, is considered one of the top college eligible basketball stars in Europe and could make an immediate impact for the Cougars when he enrolls at Washington State this fall in anticipation of the 2007-08 season.

Boeke, 20, chose the Cougars over Vanderbilt, Iowa State, New Mexico and West Virginia and is the second Cougar verbal in as many weeks, following the unprecedented announcement of 6-7 high school freshman Patrick Simon of Ephrata who will be part of the 2010 recruiting class.

Boeke is averaging 10.4 ppg and 5.1 rebounds for Urspring Basketball Academy this season and according to Korff, has made tremendous strides since joining the Steeples in 2004.
