Can Bennett close deal on L.A. power forward?

TYREESE BRESHERS, ONE of the elite post prospects on the West Coast, has seen his stock among college recruiters take off after a big junior season and a great showing last week in the Las Vegas Easter Classic. He has a top five, but says two schools -- both in the Pac-10 -- are his leaders.

Tyreese Breshers, a 6-6 junior power forward from Los Angeles' Frederick Price High, was flying under the radar prior to this past season. But after a big junior campaign, and an impressive performance at the Las Vegas Easter Classic, Breshers is now getting attention from numerous high major programs.

We spoke with Breshers in Las Vegas and asked for his current list.

"Right now, I'm looking at UCLA, Iowa State, Washington State, Washington and Miami," said Breshers.

"My favorites are Washington State and UCLA," said Breshers.

WSU, Iowa State and Miami have made firm offers, he said.

Breshers talked about the issues he'll consider when making his choice.

"Playing time and location are both important," said Breshers. "My Mom, though, is fine with me going anywhere. She says it's on me."

Breshers has yet to take any visits.

"I went to a UCLA game," said Breshers. "That's the only place I've been so far."

As for timeframe on a decision, he's looking to wrap things up before he starts his senior prep school year. "I'll probably decide in the late spring or early summer," said Breshers.

His big body and long arms allow him to play bigger than his height. He has big-time hops and excellent timing as a shot-blocker.

He also has soft hands, great feet and is very quick off the floor.

Previously, Breshers told us that he has a 3.5 GPA.
