NFL Cougar Highlights: Week Two

STEVE "SAMSON"GLEASON gets cut? Jason Hanson boots another game-winner for Motor City? Saintly Jason David "graces" the pages of Sports Illustrated? Find out the answers to these questions and learn how all of the Washington State alums performed in our recap of NFL week two.

Hamza Abdullah, DB, Denver, 3rd season: No stats from Broncs' 23-20 OT win against Oakland. Nursing a bum hamstring.

Kyle Basler, P, Cleveland, 1st season: Did not play; on non-injury reserve.

Troy Bienemann, TE, Arizona, 1st season : Caught one pass for 7 yards (consecutive games with a grab streak now at 2!) in Cards' 23-20 win against Hapless Hawks.

Cody Boyd, TE, Washington, rookie : Declared inactive for Skins' 20-12 victory against Philly on Monday night.

Tyron Brackenridge, CB, Kansas City, rookie : No stats from Chiefs' 20-10 loss to Chicago. Still my frontrunner for AFC Defensive Rookie of the Year.

Erik Coleman, S, New York Jets, 4th season : The pride of Lewis & Clark High recorded three solo stops and assisted on four more in Jets' 20-13 fall to Baltimore.

Devard Darling, WR, Baltimore, 4th season : No stats from Ravens' glorious 20-13 win against Jets.

Jason David, DB, New Orleans, 4th season: Four solo tackles in Saints' 31-14 loss to Bucs. Good news/bad news for JD. The good: He's in the current edition of Sports Illustrated. The bad: He appears on the wrong side of their "Who's Hot/Who's Not," column for his week one performance against Indy.

Eric Frampton, S, Detroit, rookie : No stats from Lions' 20-17 victory against Vikings, but NFC Defensive Rookie of the Year campaign still going strong.

Steve Gleason, DB, New Orleans, 8th season: Out for season on injured reserve. Recently got his haircut (first time since 2004) and donated it to Locks of Love—the second time the Gonzaga Prep alum has given up his hair for this charity.

Jason Hanson, K, Detroit, 16th season : The Spokane native kicked the game winning field goal from 37 yards in overtime as the Lions beat ‘Sota 20-17. He was perfect on both PAT tries and also hit a 30 yard FG, but missed a 48-yarder. Also contributed a special teams tackle that he likely is still bragging about to his teammates.

Jerome Harrison, RB, Cleveland, 2nd season : Declared inactive for Browns' 51-45 win against Cincinnati.

Jason Hill, WR, San Francisco, rookie: Declared inactive for 49ers 17-16 win against Rams. Offensive Rookie of the Year campaign off to slow start.

Rian Lindell, K, Buffalo, 8th season : Accounted for all of the Bills' scoring—a 24-yard field goal—in 26-3 loss to Steely McBeam and company.

Rien Long, DT, Tennessee, 5th season: Out for the season on injured reserve. Mark May not returning his phone calls.

Rob Meier, DE, Jacksonville, 8th season : One solo stick in Jags' 13-7 win against Bad Newz Falcons.

Karl Paymah, CB, Denver, 3rd season : No stats from Denver's 23 – 20 OT victory against Raiders. Suffered a concussion in week one tilt.

Raonall Smith, LB, St. Louis, 6th season : No stats from Rams' 17-16 to San Fran.

Lamont Thompson, DB, Miami, 6th season: Declared inactive for Dolphins' 37-20 loss to Cowboys. Said to be angry Titans aren't on Miami's schedule.

Marcus Trufant, DB, Seattle, 5th season : Made five solo tackles in Seahawks' 23-20 loss to University of Phoenix.

Cory Withrow, C/G, San Diego, 9th season : Assigned to block video camera angles of Chargers' defensive signals, but still not enough to stop Bill "Scorsese" Belichick and Patriot Studios in 38-14 loss.
