NFL Cougar Highlights: Week Six

COUGAR GREAT Jerome "The Ghost" Harrison is no longer invisible to Cleveland Browns fans. The former All-American came up big Sunday while touching the ball for the first time all season. Elsewhere, San Diego center Cory Withrow proved to be a more than adequate insurance policy for the Chargers in their win on Sunday. Hamza Abdullah, DB, Denver, 3rd season:: Did not play; bye week. Has returned to practice and is expected to play in week seven. He had been out due to a hip-flexor strain.

Kyle Basler, P, Cleveland, 1st season: Did not play; on non-injury reserve.

Troy Bienemann, TE, Arizona, 1st season: No catches in Cards' 25-10 loss to Carolina.

Cody Boyd, TE, Washington, rookie: Declared inactive, still nursing a bum shoulder.

Tyron Brackenridge, CB, Kansas City, rookie: Posted one tackle in Chiefs' 27-20 win against Bungles.

Mkristo Bruce, DE, Oakland, rookie: Did not play; signed by Raiders on Oct. 8 and assigned to practice squad .

Erik Coleman, S, New York Jets, 4th season: Despite not starting (his practice was limited the prior week due to the lingering effects of a concussion suffered in week four), EC notched 5 solo stops and assisted on 3 more in Jets' 16-9 fall to Philly.

Devard Darling, WR, Baltimore, 4th season: No catches in Ravens' 22-3 victory against St. Louis. Well respected in the league for his prowess as a gunner.

Jason David, DB, New Orleans, 4th season: Did not play. Out for approximately three more weeks with a fractured forearm.

Eric Frampton, S, Detroit, rookie : Did not play; bye week.

Steve Gleason, DB, New Orleans, 8th season: Out for season on injured reserve.

Jason Hanson, K, Detroit, 16th season: . Did not play; bye week.

Jerome Harrison, RB, Cleveland, 2nd season: After four weeks on the inactive list, the Cougar Heisman finalist came up big for the Browns in their 41-31 win against Miami. Activated due to the injury to regular back Jamal Lewis, The Ghost averaged more than 7 yards a run on 8 carries for 57 yards. He also caught one pass for another 15 hashes. From dawghouse to darling in one game.

Jason Hill, WR, San Francisco, rookie: Did not play; bye week.

Rian Lindell, K, Buffalo, 8th season: Did not play; bye week .

Rien Long, DT, Tennessee, 5th season: Out for the season on injured reserve.

Rob Meier, DE, Jacksonville, 8th season: Posted two tackles in Jags' 37-17 defeat of Houston.

Karl Paymah, CB, Denver, 3rd season: Did not play; bye week.

Raonall Smith, LB, St. Louis, 6th season: Did not play; out with a sprained knee. He is doubtful for week 7.

Lamont Thompson, DB, Miami, 6th season: Released by the Dolphins on Oct. 10. You're on my list, Cam Cameron. Right behind Jeff Fisher.

Marcus Trufant, DB, Seattle, 5th season: Notched seven solo tackles in Seaslugs' 28-17 loss to previously winless Saints.

Cory Withrow, C/G, San Diego, 9th season: After pro bowl center Nick Hardwick went down with a sprained foot seven plays into the contest, the Spokane native took over and proved the value of having a capable backup center on the roster. The Chargers offense didn't miss a beat, defeating Oakland 28-14 behind LaDainian Tomlinson's season high 198 yards and four TDs. Hardwick could be out 3 to 4 weeks.
