BREAKING NEWS: Cougs land California corner

WASHINGTON STATE hosted cornerback Kevin Frank this past weekend and there wasn't a whole lot of suspense to it. He expected the Cougs to offer, and they did, and he knew he was going to verbally commit to Wazzu immediately. Formerly committed to BSU, the three star prospect will arrive at Washington State as a corner, but could also get looks at receiver and return man.

Elk Grove (Calif.) cornerback Kevin Frank (5-11, 190) had been committed to Boise State since late in the fall, but his dream to play in the Pac-10 wouldn't go away.

This past weekend, Washington State told him that if he visited, they'd extend an offer, so Frank visited Pullman.

When the Cougars kept their end of the bargain, it didn't take Frank long to say yes.

"I mean, there is nothing wrong with Boise State at all, it's a great program. But I had to do what is best for me and it was my dream to play in the Pac-10 and now I'm getting my shot," said Frank. "You can play against the very best every weekend."

Frank becomes the 19th known verbal commitment in the 2008 Washington State class.

Frank took his official visit knowing the offer was coming and said he committed almost immediately after he received it.

"Coach (Paul) Wulff offered me. I knew that once Washington State offered me, I was going to commit. As soon as they offered, I committed."

Frank also had some geographical ties to Wulff.

"We found out that he was from Davis and he played Elk Grove a couple of times," said Frank. "The coaches were all really nice and I just felt comfortable there."

Frank said the interest from Washington State picked up after Christmas when the new staff started getting ironed out.

"Coach Sears asked if I would like to play in the Pac-10 and I said yes. They said they had a new staff and were going to recruit me. My parents really liked the coaches and they really liked me so they showed Coach Wulff my highlights. They told me if I came up, they would make it worth my while."

Frank was hosted by fellow cornerback Romeo Pellum, and the fact that Pellum is one of just three corners on the roster also played a factor.

"They've only got three corners on scholarship so I have a chance to come in right away," said Frank.

Frank said that the Cougars staff wants him to come in as a cornerback, but they may also give him a shot at receiver as well as a returner.

With his Pac-10 dreams answered, Frank said he's looking forward to Signing Day.

"I've waited a long time for a Pac-10 offer and now that it's here, I'm making the most of my shot," said Frank.

A three-star cornerback by, Frank is ranked #7 at the position in California.
