PULLMAN -- Quarterback J.T. Levenseller will make his Cougar debut this Saturday against Stanford. It's a pretty sure bet for the true freshman that emotions will be riding high when he takes the field in Palo Alto but it's also a pretty sure bet he'll need to find that fine line between being ready to roll, and being too amped up.

NOTES:
  • The first practice of the week coming off the bye saw the ones go at it for a large chunk of the practice.

  • The Cougars finished up the practice with a best of five offense versus defense, where the losers would have to run an extra pair of gassers while the winners watched. The offense started strong with a big run by Logwone Mitz, who got a good number of snaps with the ones along with Dwight Tardy and Chantz Staden. But the defense followed with a big time hit by Greg Trent to disrupt a pass to Mitz, and subsequent tackle for loss. In the end, the defense won the battle and watched the offense run a pair of sprints... before joining them for a second pair.

  • Tardy and Vaughn Lesuma were among the notable returns who missed last week's game.

  • Kevin Lopina took the majority of the first team snaps, and his strength and mobility looked improved from two weeks ago when he was returning after a 3-game layoff due to injury. Wulff said it was a mixed bag with the quarterbacks -- they played okay, but he said he will continue to expect improvement from the position.
