PAUL WULFF mid-day on Tuesday talked about the subjects of player and coach frustration, responsibility, change, plus a few other topics. Three quotes from Paul Wulff, from just a few minutes ago.

On his reaction to the comments by Kevin Lopina and other Cougar players in the wake of the Stanford loss. ("We got down early again, and you can just see some people on the sidelines giving up," said Lopina.)

Wulff: "I don't think anybody's quit, I just think some players are frustrated. And they're tired of answering the same questions. It comes back on me, as the head coach. I have to keep these guys going and working hard, which I know they are doing. They're trying to do the right things, we all make mistakes and it's my job to come in here, I've been handed a task to rebuild the program. And we're going to do it. And it's going to take hard work."

Wulff: "When you catch a young player or even a coach in a moment when you're frustrated you may get a few things said that (aren't) received well. The reality is that I don't think deep down anyone is mad at anyone individually. I just think there's frustration and we've got to work through it."

On the time it takes to affect change:

Wulff: "We're in that mode right now. We're making all these changes and doing things but the people just aren't changing yet and that's my job. That's my responsibility. I have to get that across. And we have to keep working forward."

On the redshirting players and transfers vs. how they could help the current team right now and some who could possibly start:

Wulff:"I think in the long term, we're trying to build a program and somewhere along the line we had to do that -- try and get a leg up and then you build it from there. I thought it was the best thing for the individuals involved, No. 1, and for the future of the program. Now for the seniors that were here you obviously want to do what's best for them but at the same time, I need to do what's best for Washington State University in the situation we were in. And moving forward, we're going to be a much better football team.

"I knew there were going to be some bullets thrown, as we've moved through this year it was pretty obvious, and I'm here to take them, and I'll do that. But I have a plan and we're going to stick to it and it's going to work."
