BREAKING NEWS: Locked on crimson

CASEY LOCKER, WHOSE cousin is Husky quarterback Jake Locker, will be playing for the crimson and gray. A 5-10, 170-pound star defensive back and quarterback at Ferndale this season, Locker held offers from both WSU and UW, among others. But after a picture perfect weekend visit to the Palouse, Locker decided that Washington State was clearly, definitively, the one for him.

Before Casey Locker left Pullman, he went crimson.

"I gave them my verbal. They were my top going into it and then just meeting the guys and all the coaches, I just really felt at home there," said Locker.

Locker said the home town family atmosphere was one of the biggest considerations.

"I really thought I fit in there. It's like Ferndale in that it's a smaller town and you can tell everyone who is there, they're a Coug fan," said Locker.

An Arctic blast came down this weekend and dropped temperatures throughout the state but Locker said the official visit weekend could not have been any better. He gave high marks to his player host, safety Jay Matthews.

"I had a blast, I really had fun," said Locker.

Locker also said he bonded with other recruits in for the official visit weekend at Wazzu.

"Some of the other recruits that were there, like Gino Simone, Jamal Atofau..Travis Long from Spokane, they were all really cool so we hung out a lot. That was really fun," said Locker.

Locker had an outstanding senior campaign, leading Ferndale to a No. 2 ranking en route to being named the most valuable football player -- for the second straight season -- in the Northwest Conference.

He also repeated for the second straight season as a first team all-conference selection at both defensive back and quarterback.

A member of the 7-On-7 Seattle based team that won an NFL national competition this past offseason, he also stars on the baseball diamond for Ferndale. Locker looks to project at safety for the Cougs.
