Bellevue's Atofau feeling crimson

BELLEVUE SAFETY JAMAL ATOFAU has been verbally committed to Washington State for months, but he's also been hearing from a number of other schools with February's Letter of Intent Day getting big in the window. Coming out of his Wazzu official visit this past weekend, though, Atofau says the trip helped to really solidify things.

Gut reaction:
"It was really great. The coaches showed us a really good time and it was good to be around all the other recruits...Me, Nolan (Washington) and Gino (Simone) did everything together," said Atofau.

Talking with coach Paul Wulff:
"Wulff pulled me a side, we went one on one, and that went good. He just told me that they were dedicated to me and I told him that I am dedicated to them," said Atofau.

Post visit, thoughts on other schools and/or where his commitment level is:
"I'm good now. I'm a legit Coug. I'm a Cougar. I just really needed to go out there and get a feel for it, get close with some of the other players that I'll playing with in the future. And that all went really good," said Atofau.

Chalk talk:
"Me and coach (Chris) Ball sat down, talked about the defense that we were going to be running and that was really good. We broke down some film, watched him talk with the chalk a little bit," said Atofau.

On bonding with some of the other recruits there in addition to Simone and Washington:
"(Darren) Markle and all those other dudes there are good guys, and we're a tight group...I really like the guys that I'm going to go play with here next year," said Atofau.
