Recruiting Video Vault: Future Coug shows why

DARREN MARKLE, ranked the No. 24 middle linebacking prospect in the nation by, showed in 2008 why he's so highly regarded. This video highlight package captures some of the action in 2008 that earned him All-State honors after helping Mountain View High to its first-ever state playoff victory.

Markle, from Meridian outside Boise, racked up 101 tackles in 2008, including 13 tackles for loss and two sacks. He forced four fumbles, nabbed an interception and blocked two extra points.

Markle is one of 10 future Cougs to earn a spot on Scout's final list of the 100 best high school prospects in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Hawaii and British Columbia. He was slotted at No. 32. The other incoming Cougs on the list are Travis Long (17), Gino Simone (18), Nolan Washington (25), Jamal Atofau (27), Chris Mastin (28), Andre Barrington (48), Jordan Pu'u-Robinson (54) Casey Locker (70) and Asi Hosea (79).
