BREAKING: Cougs land Bay Area verbal

PAUL WULFF CONTINUES to mine both California and the Bay Area for the 2010 class. Wazzu's 13th known verbal commitment is a physical type who went crimson this weekend.

Tracy Clark is a 5-10, 175-pounder who will line up at cornerback and will also likely see time in the slot on offense this season for Pittsburg High, about 45 minutes outside of San Francisco.

"After my game, I was just thinking about it so I called coach (Jody) Sears and told him I wanted to verbal...I just felt that was the right school and program for me. He was really excited for me," said Clark.

Clark, who has a 40 time of 4.5, had 40 tackles and three picks as a junior.

CLARK BECOMES THE 13th known verbal commitment in the Cougs' 2009 class, joining WR Bobby Ratliff, DB Tyrone Duckett, ATH Deone Bucannon, TE Asante Cleveland, WR Blair Bomber, ATH Brandon Golden, QB Connor Halliday, TE Aaron Dunn, DE/OL Jake Rodgers, OT John Fullington, cornerback Matt Simmons and DB Damante Horton.

Washington State has been recruiting Clark since his sophomore year and the relationship developed with Sears was a key factor in Clark's decision to go crimson, he said.

Clark holds a 3.5 GPA and scored a 1340 on the SAT.

He becomes the fifth verbal commitment from the official visitors who tripped to Washington State for the season opener back on Sep. 5.

"They weren't doing good in the first quarter, SC was, but when they put that new quarterback in there, the score was really 7-6 the rest of the way," said Clark of the USC game.
