O-line prospect eyes WSU visit

HE ORIGINALLY THOUGHT he would make his college decision back in the summer, before his season began. But as often happens in recruiting, things change.

Maxx Forde (6-4, 230, 4.69), son of CougGreat linebacker Brian Forde, holds five offers including one from Washington State. He's ranked a three star defensive end prospect but his best position at the next level might be on the offensive line.

Forde was originally scheduled to officially visit Washington State earlier in the year. But it looks like his trip will now take place when the Cougs host UCLA next month. Forde said the Cougars continue to stay in close contact.

"We just talk about how my season is going over here and how things are going over there," said Forde.

Army is the other school he's hearing from most frequently. Other offers include Air Force, Wyoming and Idaho and he's hearing more of late from Washington and Northwestern.

Of his timetable, Forde said a decision is likely to be after the season.

"I originally wanted to get it done before the season but when that didn't happen, I kinda wanted to focus on my season and let it happen after that," said Forde.

FORDE IS A three sport standout at Woodinville in football, basketball and track. He's also an exceptional student, with a 3.73 GPA in a curriculum that includes honors classes.

Father Brian Forde starred at linebacker for the Cougars from 1985-87 and later played for a number of years in the NFL and CFL. The elder Forde still holds the WSU record for most tackles in a game (28) and is No. 3 on the career tackles list (436) for WSU.
