JUCO DT has 'really good' in-home with Wulff

WASHINGTON STATE IS out on the recruiting trail this week, visiting with prospects and parents and with a fast approaching Signing Day arriving the first Wednesday in February. Paul Wulff and Malik Roberson were in Southern California yesterday to sit down with a sought junior college defensive tackle.

David Mahoney (6-2, 285, 4.9), who has upwards of 15 offers and who last week pegged Washington State high amongst his leaders, sat down with Paul Wulff and Cougar d-line coach Malik Roberson yesterday for an in-home visit.

"It was really cool," said Mahoney. "I had of course met them before but it was good for my family to get to meet them."

Mahoney this past season logged 35 tackles, with eight sacks and 10 tackles-for-loss, for Pierce College.

He has three to play two at the next level.

"It was a really good experience," Mahoney said of the Washington State in-home. "My parents liked them a lot...we just talked about the opportunities that are there to play and the education.

"They talked about the immediate impact I could have, coach Wulff talked about his background and the players who have been to Washington State and moved on to big things... It was a really nice experience."

MAHONEY HAS IN-HOMES scheduled later this week with Florida International and others, though schools, times and dates he said are still being finalized.

He originally thought he might be ready to make the call after this week's in-homes but said his decision has been pushed back.

"My mom and dad want to really be sure I'm taking my time so I'm going to wait a little bit longer after this week," said Mahoney.
