USC: Reggie Moore 'wrecked us'

KLAY THOMPSON came in with the hype, the hoopla and the bravado of being the league's leading scorer. And on a night when Kobe Bryant was dueling with LeBron James in Cleveland, the Los Angeles spotlight seemed his for the taking. But a sidekick freshman guard stole the show, and the Cougars topped the Trojans, 67-60, Thursday night at the Galen Center in front of 4,422.

So writes Baxter Holmes of the Los Angeles Times in today's editions of the newspaper.

Indeed, Moore's work in leading the Cougars back from a 15-point second-half deficit was head turning. Especially so because he did it in so many ways.

In the game's final six-and-a-half minutes he hit three field goals, dished two assists, stole a ball that led to a Marcus Capers jam, and nailed two free throws. When all was said and done he had 21 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds.

Perhaps the best analysis on his night's output was this comment from USC coach Kevin O'Neill: "One guy wrecked us."

PROGRAMMING NOTE: The Cougars, 14-5 overall and 4-3 in Pac-10 play, will be at UCLA tomorrow (Saturday) at 1 pm. The game will be televised on FSN.
