Cougs host Wenatchee linebacker prospects

ONE WAS A first-team all-league linebacker in the Columbia division of the Big 9. The other was league MVP and an all-state Class 4A pick who broke the school rushing records. Both officially visited WSU this past weekend. The Cougs don't have full rides for them right now but are offering preferred walk-on status to Wenatchee brothers Jacob Sealby and Lucas Sealby. So is another Pac-10 school.

"It went really good," Lucas said of the Wazzu visit. "The coaches were great, it was well organized and I like how everything is structured."

Like his brother, Jacob is a 6-1, 195-pounder out of Wenatchee High with room to add size and strength. The Cougars, said Lucas, like them both at linebacker.

"We talked with the coaches about how we would fit into their defense, how the program is coming back up. They've been in a rebuilding mode right now but the freshman and sophomore classes are pretty strong, pretty close. They want us to be a part of that," said Lucas.

LUCAS SEALBY SAID one of the things that stood out most was the family atmosphere and bond.

"It seemed like all the players and coaches were all really close. They weren't split up in terms of position or anything, it was all just one close family...They seemed like they could have a fun time, too, and I liked that about them," he said.

The brothers will take at least a couple more trips this week, to Eastern and Central, in the hopes of landing an offer.

"After we talk those visits we're going to sit down and talk about it, and then see what we want to do," said Lucas.

Washington and Idaho are also in contact.

"The Washington linebacker coach just sent us an email a couple days ago, he also wants us to play linebacker, maybe strong safety, and he also wants us to walk-on. And we recently talked to the Idaho coaches for a while," said Lucas.
