Wulff signs JC receiver Barton

WASHINGTON STATE coach Paul Wulff promised the other day that a couple more recruits would be joining his 2010 class. And late Friday he announced the signing of 6-1, 190-pound Isiah Barton, a one-time prep quarterback turned standout junior college receiver and return man.

"I think Isiah is an outstanding football player," said Wulff. "He should give us some immediate help. He will give us quickness and speed at the slot and receiver positions as well as maturity. We're very happy he is on board."

He prepped at L.A.'s Westchester High School and spent the 2009 season at Fresno City College following one walk-on year at Fresno State..

This past fall he caught 48 passes for 715 yareds and 7 TDs, and averaged 28.4 yards per kickoff return (two of which he took to the house). His efforts earned All-Central Valley Conference first-team honors.

Barton led the Valley Conference in all-purpose yards at 141.8 per game.

In high school, Barton played quarterback and was his team MVP as a senior in 2007. He earned first-team All-Los Angeles and All-Western League honors after throwing for more than 1,000 yards and rushing for almost 600 more.
