Casto had been charged with fourth-degree assault in March in Pullman.
A court representative said Wednesday morning that Casto had been cleared of the charge.
But Wednesday afternoon, another court representative said Casto was fined $150 after the charge was dismissed on a misdemeanor compromise, which requires an agreement with the alleged victim.
Casto, a 6-foot-8, 241-pound sophomore last season, averaged 10.7 points, led the Cougars with 7.0 rebounds per game and led the Pacific-10 Conference with 2.2 blocked shots per game.
