Florida receiver primed to explore WSU

AMONG THE FLORIDIAN quartet who hold offers from Washington State, a receiver with 4.4 speed who is just as comfortable running the ball as he is catching it. But Florida is some distance from the Pacific Northwest, can he really envision himself going that far from home for college? In a word, yes. And he and three of his Orlando-area teammates plan on taking unofficials to WSU in June.

"Distance is not a factor at all," said Henry Eaddy. "My mom is comfortable with me leaving and going to new places. She always tells me I need to go explore a little bit more. So it would be a great opportunity for me if I were to go there."

Eaddy (5-8, 170) and three of his Olympia High teammates -- S Corian Hamilton, WR Isiah Myers and LB Darryl Monroe -- plan on flying up and exploring the Palouse in late June.

Eaddy has been clocked in the 40 in the 4.4 range, with two of his more recent times being 4.46 and 4.39. But he also has some shake to his game.

"I talked to (WSU) and they said they don't care about my size -- obviously 5-8, 170 isn't ideal height and size for a receiver but they like the fact that I compete and that I'm very versatile. I can play virtually any position. And they like that I run with the ball very well," said Eaddy.

SINCE BEING OFFERED by WSU in April, Eaddy has talked briefly to area recruiter Chris Ball over the phone but their conversations have gone well.

"Both me and my mother have talked to him and we both really liked him," said Eaddy. "He showed great hospitality and answered any questions we had... They told me I can fit really well in a spread offense, and that's what I'm looking for in a school -- a spread."

Other schools he's talked to include Bowling Green, Auburn, Michigan State, Florida and Georgia Southern. While they and the Cougs are all recruiting him at receiver, he may also end up making an impact on special teams at the next level.

"Everyone says I can play kick returner/punt returner," said Eaddy.

Playing behind seniors last season at Olympia, Eaddy had 17 receptions for 221 yards (13.0 ypc) with 2 TDs, along with 29 carries for 281 yards (9.7 ypc) and three scores. You can see several of those plays below.
