WASHINGTON STATE, seemingly on the brink of elimination hours earlier, stared tourney nemesis -- and home-town favorite -- Arkansas in the eye Sunday evening and didn't blink. The result as a wild, 10-7 victory that forces a rematch Monday for the Fayetteville regional title.

The winner is in the Sweet 16 and heads to Tempe for the super regional.

Matt Fanelli paced the Cougars at the plate Sunday against the Hogs, going 2-for-4 with 3 RBI. Shea Vucinich and Derek Jones each collected two RBI. Jones had four hits on the night and also scored two runs.

Pitcher James Wise, who was chased in the Kansas State game earlier in the day, came back to start the nightcap and turned in three innings of two-hit, one-run ball. He was credited with the win.

Chad Arnold, who came on in the sixth in relief of Connor Lambert, struggled a bit but wrapped things up with a scoreless ninth. It was the first relief appearance for the starting ace in more than a year.

Stay tuned as CF.C will be back with a full analysis of it all a little later tonight.
