Husky Recruit Recaps: Week #1

15 of Washington's 18 commitments got their senior seasons of football started last weekend and was able to gather the stats so people can follow their progress. Read on to find out who did what and which players put up big numbers in week one...

Dorsey (Los Angeles, Ca.) LB Matthew Lyons Posted five tackles and a forced fumble in Dorsey's 41-0 win over North Hollywood last Friday.

Gahr (Cerritos, Ca.) WR Josh Perkins Hauled in seven receptions for 107 yards in Gahr's 48-22 win over Millikan. Gahr, who likes to throw the ball around the yard all game, threw for 380 yards and totaled over 500 yards of offense last week.

Stanwood (Wa.) OL Dexter Charles Stanwood lost to Kamiak 20-13 in their first game of the season last week. The Spartans got off to a quick start with a 10-yard touchdown by Josh James and a blocked punt they returned for a touchdown. After that, it was all Kamiak. On the night, Stanwood totaled 250 yards of offense.

Paramount (Ca.) OL/DL Maataua Brown The Pirates lost 35-7 to Santa Fe. No stats were available from this game.

Next game: Friday (9/10) vs. Western

Graham-Kapowsin (Graham, Wa.) WR Jamaal Jones Injured (shoulder) and will not play this season.

East Central (Fresno, Ca.) RB Brendan Bigelow – Still recovering from torn ACL and the Fresno Bee is reporting he won't play before October at the earliest.

Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, Nv.) S Evan Zeger Bishop Gorman went to 1-1 with a 38-13 win over Del Oro last week. In two games, Zeger has posted eight tackles, one pass defensed and a forced fumble on defense while hauling in three receptions for 64 yards and one touchdown as a receiver.

Norwalk (Ca.) RB/DE Elijhaa Penny Ran for 112 yards in Norwalk's 34-0 loss to Los Alamitos last Friday.

Walnut (Ca.) TE/DE Aubrey Coleman Has not played a game yet.

Poly (Long Beach, Ca.) CB Kameron Jackson The Jackrabbits beat Bakersfield 42-28 last weekend. Jackson had five tackles, an interception and four passes defensed in the win.

Archbishop Murphy (Everett, Wa.) DE Taniela Tupou Notched six tackles and three sacks last week in the Wildcats' 37-3 win over Ellensburg.

Skyline (Sammamish, Wa.) DE/TE Connor Cree Started at tight end and defensive end for the Spartans in their 39-34 loss to Liberty and posted six tackles and two quarterback pressures. Cree was used as a blocker from the tight end position.

Next game: Saturday (9/11) vs. Bellevue

Skyline WR Kasen Williams Williams always fills up the stat-sheet and had a big interception from his safety position to set up a late touchdown that brought the Spartans within five. Posted four receptions for 58 yards while dealing with double and triple-teams all game long.

Oak Grove (San Jose, Ca.) LB Scott Lawyer Had eight tackles on defense and on offense he posted two catches for 30 yards in the Eagles' 24-0 loss to St. Francis last week.

Gig Harbor (Wa.) TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins Had a big night in Gig Harbor's 38-7 win over rival Peninsula last week. The highly-ranked tight end prospect posted with seven receptions for 107 yards including a 10-yard touchdown catch.

Juanita (Kirkland, Wa.) TE/DE Jarett Finau Sat for part of the Rebels' first game due to missing a practice earlier in the week to attend to a family issue. When he did play he was a factor per head coach Shaun Tarantola and posted two tackles and a half of a sack and had the key block that sprung a 55-yard touchdown run.

Jordan (Long Beach, Ca.) OL/DL Siosifa Tufunga Long Beach Jordan beat Los Angeles Jordan 32-20 while putting up over 200 yards of offense on the ground.

Next game: Friday (8/17) vs. Warren

Pacifica (Garden Grove, Ca.) RB/CB Joel Willis - Had five tackles in the Mariners' 15-7 win over Murrieta Valley. Also had two catches for 95 yards and rushed for 30 more in helping his team get off to a 1-0 start.
