Trip Report - Stephan Nembot

Washington got a visit this past weekend from one of the biggest, literally, recruits on their radar and Montlair (Van Nuys, Ca.) DE Stephan Nembot said he enjoyed watching his first live football game at Husky Stadium. The native of Cameroon spoke with Monday evening about his trip to Seattle, talking to the coaches and what the trip did for the Huskies' chances of landing him...

"It was a great time, a great time," Nembot said in his heavy accent. "It was really great standing on the sidelines before the game and then going up in the stands, it was really loud and the fans there were really into the game on the field."

Being from Cameroon, Nembot literally just started playing the game of American Football last year and played in his first game a year ago last weekend. He said while he's played in a handful of games, Saturday's contest between Washington and Syracuse was the first he had actually seen live.

"It was impressive," Nembot said. "The stadium is big and the fans were all there cheering on the Huskies. It was really loud at times, but everyone was really friendly to me and I loved the cheers they did."

Nembot's host on his trip was Nick Montana, a young man who hails from southern California as well.

"He told me about the school and how things work there," Nembot said. "We spent a lot of time getting to know each other and he showed me a good time while I was there.

"I really enjoyed everything and I got to see how the classes are all close together for different majors and I want to major in International Business, so he showed me where things were and how they schedule things for you so you can stay close with your classes."

Nembot also got some face time with the coaches including sit downs Saturday morning as well as Sunday morning before he left.

"I met with coach (Steve) Sarkisian and he told me about how they'd like to use me and told me that he thought if I chose Washington it would be a good decision," Nembot said. "They said they like my athletic ability and my size and how I can use my speed to beat the offensive lineman.

"The trip made them go up in my choices. It showed me what it would be like and I really enjoyed it and liked what I saw."

Nembot will take a visit to Pullman in two weeks to watch Washington State play host to USC and then he said he plans to set up his final three visits before he makes a decision on where he will play his college football.
