Trip Report - Viliami Moala

One of the most sought-after prospects in the country was on campus for Washington's game against Nebraska on Saturday and spoke with about things including his close relationship with a current Husky football player as well as his thoughts on the crowd at Husky Stadium...

"Man, it was so loud," Moala said sounding surprised. "Even when they were down, the crowd was loud and they were trying to get their team back into it.

"I was talking to James and he couldn't even hear me it was so loud. I loved the atmosphere."

Moala, who had commented on his last visit that enjoyed the heat at Arizona State, said he actually got a little warm sitting in the stands at Husky Stadium.

"That sun was just beating down on us so me and James took our shirts off and just had our tanks on," Moala said. "When we first flew in on Friday night it was rainy, but it wasn't too bad and I think that's sorta like football weather anyway so it really wasn't that big of a deal to me."

Moala spent a lot of time hanging out with an old friend, Husky DT Alameda Ta'amu, and the two caught up and he got the low-down on what Washington's football program is all about.

"'Meda and I go way back to when he lived down here," Moala said. "He and my teammate, Puke (Faigame Lopa) are cousins, so I've known him for a while and he gave it to me straight.

"He said the coaches are really straight-shooters and they don't pull any punches. They will tell you the good and the bad and they won't cut corners.

"Just talking with them, I felt real comfortable with what they were doing defensively and I like how they would use me and playing with Alameda would be really a lot of fun.

"Washington definitely made a great impression me."

As we mentioned earlier Moala, who sports offers from all over the country, has already visited Arizona State and said he'd like to visit either Alabama or Florida in the next month or so.

"I haven't really decided when I will make a decision or who my next visit will be to," Moala said. "I haven't even decided if I will visit Cal, USC and UCLA or whether I will just take unofficial visits."

Moala would be a huge coup for the Husky coaches should they bring him in and it sounds as if they have put themselves in the mix despite what the game looked like Saturday afternoon.
