Trip Report - Todd Barr

The Huskies hosted two of the biggest defensive line prospects on the west coast over the weekend and Lakewood (Ca.) DT Todd Barr said before he arrived in Seattle he didn't know a lot about the Husky football program, but after his 48 hours on campus he's impressed with things on Montlake and came away saying they would probably be in his thoughts when he makes his decision...

"Honestly, before I got there, I didn't know much about the city or the school other than what people had told me," Barr told Sunday night. "I mean, I knew it was a beautiful campus from the pictures I'd seen, but it wasn't something I really knew much about and then when I got there, I was really shocked how much I liked it actually."

Barr brought both of his parents on his trip and he noted that they too enjoyed their stay, but he said it was hanging out with his friend and former teammate, Talia Crichton, as well as the rest of the defensive linemen that really made the biggest impression.

"Talia was my host and he showed me a great time," Barr said. "He talked about how it's beautiful there year-round and he really loved playing for coach (Nick) Holt and coach (Johnny) Nansen.

"He said both of those guys are great to play for and they know how to get things done."

Barr, who has offers from over 20 schools, said the loss by Washington was tough to see, but he also took away a lot of positives as well.

"Of course when you go there, you want to see them win, but I saw a lot of good things," Barr said. "I loved how aggressive their 'D' was and the pressure they got the quarterback with the blitz-package.

"I guess they just didn't have enough to match up with them, but I saw how many young guys that played and how they rotated them and I know if I was to commit there, that I would have a chance to play early and to help them get to where they want to go."

As far as making a decision, Barr said he's not close and has no time frame for when a decision might be made.

"I like Washington a lot now that I've seen it up close," Barr said. "As far as them being in final favorites and stuff like that, I'm not really sure yet since I haven't visited anywhere else, but with the way the trip went, I think they will be right there until the end.

"Talia being there is helpful just because I would know someone already there and that's definitely comforting, but I don't have to have that. I just want to find the right school for me and one that fits what I'm looking for.

"I'm visiting Florida for the LSU game (October 9th) and I'm thinking about visiting Cal and Oregon too. I'm not real sure yet on which ones I will make and which ones I won't.

"I'll take my time and when I know the right fit and which school will be the best one for me, that's when I will make my decision."

We'll continue to keep track of Barr's progress through the recruiting process and update news as it happens.
