Penny opens things up was able to confirm what the Long Beach Press Telegram reported last night -- that Norwalk (Ca.) RB Elijhaa Penny has decommitted from the University of Washington and has re-opened his recruiting although the Huskies remain a program he is very much interested in at this point...

"I just felt like I wasn't getting the attention I wanted," Penny told "I talk to recruits all the time and they were setting up visits with schools and getting to see different things and I didn't feel like I was a priority for (Washington).

"I took my SAT recently so that I could set up my visit with them and I haven't really been able to reach them much, so I decided I needed to look at other things.

"I'm still very interested in them. I wouldn't have committed to them if I wasn't, but I also need to do what is right for me, so I'll look at some other schools and take some visits and then see where things stand."

The other schools recruiting Penny at this time including Oregon State, Arizona State and UNLV who is the only other school to offer the talented big-back.

Penny is off to a great start on the season for the Lancers who are 2-2. He's posted 563 yards rushing and five touchdowns including a 182 yard, two touchdown effort last night in a 44-14 win over Morningside.

"It's been a good start for me, but I want more, I want the playoffs," Penny said.

We'll continue to keep track of Penny's progress and update things as they change.
