One visit set for Blackmon

Adding speed to the Washington attack has been a priority for the Husky staff and a prospect that brings that trait in spades is Summit (Fontana, Ca.) WR Devon Blackmon. The talented wideout has missed the past two weeks with an ankle injury, but will be back in the lineup on Friday and he updated on which Pac 10 school will get an official visit from him the first week of November...

"Things have been hard, but my ankle is better so I'll be back this coming week," Blackmon said. "I tore the biggest ligament in my right ankle and I've had to miss the past two weeks, but I'm playing this coming week against Silverado (Victorville, Ca.)."

Heading into the summer, Blackmon was one of the most sought-after prospects of the spring recruiting period, hauling in offers from across the country including full-rides from Alabama, California, Florida, Oregon, UCLA, USC, Washington, Georgia, North Carolina among others.

This past week, Blackmon spoke with one of the coaches from Oregon and he set up his official visit to Eugene.

"I'm set up with them for November 6th when they play Washington," Blackmon said. "I'll definitely be checking out both teams, but that's my time to see Oregon up close and find out even more about their program.

"I'm still planning to take all of my visits and see what other schools have to offer. Washington is a school I want to see and I've been talking to them a little bit about visiting, but not a lot.

"I think Cal is another school I'd like to visit and maybe a school a little farther east, but I'm not sure right now."

Blackmon noted that all the schools recruiting him have considered using him as a 'Wildcat' quarterback, a position he plays for his team, but that most want to use him at receiver with only spot duty behind center.

We'll continue to keep track of Blackmon's progress through the recruiting process and we'll update news as things change.
