Two sides to the process

Antwaun Woods and Matthew Lyons were both in attendance to see Washington defeat USC 32-31 this past Saturday. They were watching the game from a little different perspective; Woods is currently committed to USC and Lyons has pledged his future to the Huskies. One thing they could agree on? It was a great game.

"It was a real good game," said Woods, who, despite his public commitment to the Trojans, is still looking around and is expected to take an official visit to Washington. "You can't predict games like that. Either way it goes, whoever makes a play…I knew it was going to be a big game from the get-go."

"I loved it," said Lyons. "I think they played good. Jake Locker was running all over the field." Lyons will be playing the SAM linebacker position in college, so he was following the play of Mason Foster intently.

"It's going to be a big adjustment, because those guys look pretty big," he said, matter-of-factly.

Lyons even revealed that he tried to sneak into the Huskies' locker room, but his hosts weren't having much of that. "Yeah, I was trying to, but USC got mad," he said.

For Woods, the game didn't change his impression of either program. "I'm not really tripping over the loss," he said. "It was a real good game. I like those games."

Lyons isn't looking around. He's solidly in UW's corner. "All the recruiting pretty much stopped, and that's what I really wanted to do going into the season," he said, adding that Arizona, Arizona State, Fresno State, Colorado were close to offering before he verbally committed to the Huskies back at the end of April. "I didn't really want to worry about recruiting. I just wanted to end it so I could focus on my season and school."

There's a chance Woods and Lyons could end up reconnecting on an official visit to Washington, but at this point no one knows. Neither one has trip date to Seattle locked down. "I haven't taken my SAT yet," said Lyons, whose 4-0 Dorsey Dons play San Diego Mira Mesa coming up this weekend. "I take it on October 9th."
