Trip Report - Jalen Jefferson

Since the spring, it's been apparent that the Huskies had St. Bonaventure (Ventura, Ca.) LB Jalen Jefferson high on their list of prospects. Over the weekend, the talented defender was on campus for his official visit and he came away more impressed than he thought he would be and he said after his visit to Cal this coming weekend he will make his decision...

"It was a great visit, I really enjoyed it a lot," Jefferson told Sunday evening. "I had it in my mind that it was going to be all gloomy and cold, but it was far from that.

"I came up by myself and just spent a lot of time with my host, Jesse Callier, the freshman running back up there, and he showed me a good time."

Jefferson said the highlight of his trip was sitting down with the Husky coaches and the players to get to know them a little better.

"The coaches are all down to earth and they are really cool guys," Jefferson said. "I felt like that was a place I could definitely see myself playing if I decide to go there and right now Washington and Cal are tied up.

"I'm visiting Cal this weekend and I'll make my decision at some point next week after I get back."

As far as watching the Huskies win in double-overtime, he said it was also eye-opening.

"That was the loudest place I've ever been," Jefferson said with a chuckle. "It was so loud, I couldn't hear anything and then when it went into overtime, I was getting into the game too and cheering right along with everyone.

"I loved my entire trip. I wouldn't have changed a thing about it."

We'll check back in with Jefferson next week to find out his timeline on making a decision and we'll have that for Husky fans as soon as it happens.
