Trip Report - Thomas Tutogi

Washington brought in two JUCO linebackers this week to see them play UCLA. One, Southwestern's Thomas Tutogi, fits the profile of a stout, run-stuffing middle linebacker who can be a leader on the field and he told Friday that he enjoyed every aspect of his visit to Montlake...

"Oh man, I loved it," Tutogi told as he waited at Sea Tac Airport for his flight to leave. "It was a great time. I loved the fans and the meeting they had beforehand.

"It was a great atmosphere and I spent a lot of time getting to know the players and the coaches while I was there."

Tutogi's hosts were defensive linemen Talia Crichton and DT Alameda Ta'amu and both showed him a good time.

"It was a real quick visit, but they are good guys," Tutogi said. "Alameda is huge and he had a really good game. He'd be pretty fun to play behind because I wouldn't have to worry about a lot of blockers coming at me.

"It was cool just getting to know the players and spending time with them.

"I had a great time and I'm going to go home and talk to my family about things and where I will go from here."

Tutogi would be able to fill a role in Washington's defense right away and put up monster numbers at Southwestern this year posting 96 tackles, 13.5 tackles-for-loss, 3.5 sacks, two interceptions, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble.

He was a full-qualifier out of high school and plans to sign with a school in the next few weeks with four years to play three.

We will have more from Tutogi in the coming weeks as he gets closer to making a decision.
