Huskies 'in it' for Nowicki

One of the top offensive line prospects still left on the board this late in the recruiting process visited Seattle last weekend and Cactus (Glendale, Az.) High School's Ryan Nowicki said the Huskies are right in the thick of things...

"It was a great trip," Nowicki admitted to a week after he returned from his visit to Washington. "Drew Schaefer was my host and one thing I really appreciated from him was how honest he was with me.

"I asked him point-blank how much he liked being a Husky and he was straight-up with me about what it meant to him to play there and why he loved being there."

Nowicki said the highlight of his trip was the intensity of practice and how the Husky coaches got after things.

"It was really intense, but they were having a lot of fun," Nowicki said. "You can see how much they love being out there and coaching the players, which is always good to see.

"Getting to a bowl game is big for the program and it's recovering from being down and they just took a big step by making it to the bowl game.

"I think they really are an up-and-coming program and it would be great to be a part of that."

Nowicki said his visit to Montlake compared favorably to his trips to see Penn State and USC and that his last visit, schedule for January 14th to see Oregon State, may or may not happen.

"Right now I'm thinking about my options," Nowicki said. "I've got a lot to think about over the next couple of weeks and I'll be weighing the positives and the negatives.

"This put Washington right in it for me. They are right there.

"I might make my decision before I visit Oregon State or right after, I'm not really sure right now. I have some great options ahead of me, so I think I'll be fine with whichever school I end up at."

We'll continue to check in with Nowicki over the next few weeks and we'll update things as they happen.
