Trip Report - Uriah Grant

Washington continues to try and add depth to the interior of their defensive line and this weekend they hosted one of the top JUCO defensive tackles in the country when Fullerton's Uriah Grant came to town on an official visit. The talented defensive tackle, who led the state of California with nearly 20 tackles-for-loss this year, came away impressed and said the Huskies lead for his services...

"I had a great time," Grant said as he waited for his flight to arrive at Sea-Tac Airport. "I had a really great time meeting with the coaches and the players and just spent time watching their practices and saw how intense the coaches are there."

Grant's host was redshirt freshman Chris Robinson and the two spent time hanging out and he said his favorite part was going out to dinner.

"Man, they are a bunch of characters up there," Grant said with a chuckle. "They all had the same sense of humor I do and they were just laughing and enjoying themselves and I felt right at home with the group of guys.

"I also really loved watching all three practices they had. They were all up-tempo and the coaches were really intense and just getting after it with the players. Sometimes I thought they were going to get out there and practice. It was great."

He said Washington leads for his commitment, but said he wants to check out Ole Miss before he makes his decision.

"The (Husky) coaches like me and they said I should go on my visit to Mississippi and then decide," Grant said. "Washington definitely leads and if I had to decide right now, they would be the school I end up at, but I'm going to take my trip to Ole Miss on January 21st and then I will sit down and make my decision."
