Trip Report - Travis Feeney

Pinole (Ca.) S Travis Feeney has been committed to Arizona since August, but Washington made a late push to get him to look their way and this past weekend he was in Seattle to visit with the Husky coaching staff. Dawgman.com was able to catch up with the hard-hitting safety and he updated us on where things stand and when he plans to make a decision...

"I really enjoyed my visit," Feeney told Dawgman.com. "I had a lot of fun up there and got to hang out with the players and spend time with the coaches talking about things.

"Washington likes me as a hybrid-type player, someone who can play either SAM (strongside linebacker) or at the strong or free safety spot."

Feeney measures in at 6'3", 200 pounds and said he likes the hitting going on at all of the positions he's projected to play.

"I like the physicality of playing safety," Feeney said. "What they want me to play fits right in with how I think about playing the game."

Feeney's host on his visit was DiAndre Campbell, a freshman from the Bay Area, and the two spent time on campus and off.

"They sorta showed us the town and what it was like to be a student and football player there," Feeney said. "It was a really great experience."

Both of Feeney's parents accompanied him on his visit and his father, Dana, said he and Feeney's mom are both sold on the Huskies.

"I'm sold, I was before I got up there, but it's his decision," the elder Feeney said. "It's his decision though, it isn't ours. We'll let him decide, but if I were deciding, it would be Washington."

"My mom liked it a lot," Feeney said. "She liked the academics there and she loved the coaches."

Feeney will meet with the Washington coaches on Tuesday and then said he hopes to make his final decision by the end of the week.
