An early decision for Lindquist?

Every program wants to get their quarterback committed early in the recruiting process and this coming year, one of the top signal-callers on the west coast, Mercer Island's Jeff Lindquist, told he would like to finish things up in May so he can concentrate on getting ready for his senior season as well as to help recruit other players to come with him...

With his size and athleticism, Lindquist has already has two offers to his name -- Washington and Washington State -- and he's seeing interest from several other schools.

"I've been getting interest from Stanford for a while and they are still sending me stuff and talking to me," Lindquist told "I'm hearing a lot from LSU right now and about 10 other schools -- Oregon, Cal, UCLA -- you know, the other Pac 12 schools.

"I'd like to get my decision done with by May if I can just so I can focus on my senior season, getting ready for it, and also to help recruit as well because I'd like to bring in the best players with me."

As far as what will help him in the decision-making process, Lindquist had a short list of things he will be looking for when evaluating the different schools eying him.

"The program, in terms of football at least, it will be how I fit into the offense and how I bond with the coaches there," Lindquist noted. "On the other end, academics is going to be a focus for me, especially what the business school is like so that after football I have something I can do and also the college lifestyle and the area the school is in, stuff like that."

As a junior, Lindquist had a solid season leading the Islanders to their first .500 season in several years by throwing for nearly 2,000 yards and rushing for over 1,100 yards.

"I was happy how we did," Lindquist said. "I felt like I played well and got better and in terms of how that helped our team, we went 5-5 for the first time in like five years, so we are just doing what we can to get better and get to the playoffs."

This summer Lindquist plans to attend the Steve Clarkson quarterback camps as well as some Barton Quarterback camps and hopes to attend several schools' camps as well, although he's unsure which ones he will take part in at this time.

"My dad and I need to talk about that stuff because we really need to figure out which ones we want to go to," Lindquist said. "I might hit a couple junior days to different schools and I think I'll probably go to some camps, but I'm not really sure yet on which ones."

We'll continue to follow Lindquist in the coming weeks and months and will update things as they change.
