USC Nike camp profile - Michael Bumpus

There were some great receivers in attendance Sunday at USC to take part at the SoCal Nike camp. Justin Shaw, Aaron Ware, Nate Kimbrough and Ryan Graves were just a few. But Culver City's Michael Bumpus might have been the best of them all. Even on a tender ankle, he schooled DB's left and right. We talked to him after the camp about recruiting and his friendship with a Washington signee.

"I got here late so I didn't run the 40 or shuttle," the 5-11, 180-pound Bumpus told TheInsiders. "I also hurt my ankle a little bit too."

That didn't stop Michael from jumping 31.3 in the vertical jump and putting up 6 reps of 185 pounds on the bench.

The whole west coast is hot after Michael. USC, UCLA, Colorado, Oregon, Washington and Washington State are his current favorites. "USC and UCLA definitely," he said when asked about any trips he would like to take. And Oregon too. And if Florida, Miami, Florida State come around I would definitely take trips out there too.

"I'll be going to the UCLA and USC camps this summer and I'm working with a trainer every day and one day on the weekends. I'm just trying to stay in shape."

It was a bit ironic seeing Beverly Hills QB Oliver Linter throw to Bumpus Sunday. BH and Culver City have played each other a few times of late, so Linter was well acquainted with Bumpus and vise-versa. "I know Sonny Shackelford," Michael said of the BH player set to attend Washington this coming fall. "He's a crazy guy. He's just a good player all-around. I see him as one of the best receivers in our area. He's a good guy."
