Junior to watch - Patrick McKillop

Patrick McKillop is a 6-2, 225-pound LB/OT prospect from Tacoma (Wash.) Bellarmine Prep, and when it comes to football, Patrick seems to derive pleasure in being a bit of a throwback. He's coached by former Washington linebacker Mike Baldassin, so he already has someone to look up to that knows how to do things 'old school'.

"I'm really intense," McKillop told Dawgman.com. "My leadership skills are there too. I'm a hard hitter. They call me an 'old-school' linebacker. I go to the ball fast and keep going until the whistle blows."

With his size and instincts, he just might be the closest pure MIK prospect the state has produced in years, probably since Spokane's Ty Gregorak. Patrick runs a 4.7 40, benches 325 pounds, power cleans 275 and squats 480.

As a junior, McKillop racked up a whopping 120 tackles and 2 sacks, earning 1st team All-Area, All-League and League Defensive MVP. On top of all that, he also made it to regionals in wrestling.

With those numbers and accolades, it's no wonder the hometown Huskies are on Patrick hard. "I thought it was really good," he said, referring to last Saturday's UW junior day. "Coach Neuheisel was around the whole time. I had been to other junior days and the head coach wasn't always there. But Coach Neuheisel was pretty involved and he made it more personal. He made you feel more important.

"He told me that he would be watching me and to keep in touch with him."

McKillop does not have any offers at this time, and is listing Washington, Oregon and Notre Dame as his current top-3.
