Miles talks about UW Nike Camp experience

It was a quick trip for Mullen (Denver, Co.) QB Cyler Miles, but while in Seattle on Sunday, he got a lot accomplished. He met with the Husky coaching staff, watched some film and then headed out to the field to throw passes to one of his future teammates...

"It was a really fun time out here," Miles told shortly after the brisk five-hour Nike Camp at Husky Stadium. "This was a great event and there were a lot of great players out here."

One of the prospects Miles wanted to see was Bellarmine Prep (Tacoma, Wa.) WR Michael Rector and the two formed a nice tandem.

"You can see why he's such a good prospect," Miles noted. "He's smooth and he caught everything we threw at him all day. He runs really good routes and it was pretty easy to know where he was going to be so that when I threw it, I was confident he was going to go and get it."

Miles also got to meet fellow QB-commit Jeff Lindquist who he will be competing against for the starting spot in Washington's lineup once they arrive next summer.

"It was all good," Miles said with a smile. "He's a great guy and he's a good quarterback. He's going to push me to improve and hopefully I do the same for him.

"There wasn't any tension at all for us. We just went out and competed and worked on what we needed to work on. It wasn't weird at all."

Miles flew into Seattle early Sunday morning and sat down with the coaches for a little while, going over film and watching some things.

"It was cool because we watched some of their plays and they sorta showed me how I would fit into their system," Miles said. "It was a great experience for me really.

"The other great thing about doing this was, the first time I came up, I just watched practice and got to meet with the coaches, but this time I got to actually throw on the field which was great.

"We'll play at Qwest (Field) next year, my first year here, but then we'll be on this field for the rest of my career, so it was pretty cool to see what it's like down here.

"The stadium is huge and it's awe-inspiring to me. I can't wait to see a game here."

As a junior, Miles completed 70% of his passes for over 2,100 yards with 24 touchdowns and only two interceptions while guiding his team to a 15-0 record and a state title.
