Thompson content to 'let things ride' for now

A player who made some waves this spring on both sides of the ball is Kennedy (Burien, Wa.) QB/S Jason Thompson. Washington offered the talented prospect after his performance last month at a couple of their camps, but he said that even though he has family ties to the Husky football program, he's willing to let things play out before he makes a decision...

At nearly 6'3", 205 pounds, Thompson is an impressive athlete and showed off his arm as well as his hitting abilities last fall leading the Lancers to a 7-1 record and a trip to the playoffs.

With his dual-threat ability and skills, Thompson is getting looks on both sides of the ball and has two offers already in his back pocket.

"I have an offer from Portland State to play quarterback and Washington offered me after camp as an athlete on the defensive side of the ball, either as a safety or a linebacker," Thompson said. "Other than those two, I have Oregon State looking at me a little and that's about it right now.

"If I had to choose between which position I prefer it would be quarterback. I love playing it."

While Thompson said he was excited about his offer from the Dawgs, his brother Everrette, a senior defensive lineman at Washington, might have been more excited.

"He was jumping up and down and yelling," Thompson said with a chuckle. "He said 'you're a Dawg' and was all excited."

While he and his family members were excited by the offer from the Huskies, Thompson said he's not really close to making a decision.

"I'm just going to let things ride for now and talk things over with my family," Thompson said. "I still have a camp down in Southern California (July 23rd) and then one at Montana on July 30th."

We'll continue to keep track of Thompson's progress this summer and we'll update news as it happens.
