Decision Time for Bafaro?

One of the rising stars in the Northwest this offseason has been Liberty (Hillsboro, Or.) LB/FB Brett Bafaro. On Friday the talented prospect was at Montlake to take part in the Barton Showcase and after returning home he made a call to Husky head coach Steve Sarkisian who gave him some good news...

"I gave them a call right around noon as I was getting ready to play (baseball) and I was warming up and I called coach Sark and he said I was big and fast and they loved the way I played and that they were offering me," Bafaro told Dawgman.com. "I was really excited because I love the school and the program up there, but I want to just be patient and let things sorta settle for a little while."

In addition to the offer from the Huskies, Bafaro also has offers from Boise State, Colorado, Eastern Washington, Idaho, Oregon Portland State and Utah and said while that is a nice cadre of offers, he might not be holding firm to his initial timeline on making a decision.

"I thought I might make my decision before my season, but I'm not as sure now," Bafaro said. "I'd like to see if a couple of schools from California get involved and see what they have to say too.

"If things stay the same and I have the same offers I do now, I think I will probably make my commitment before my senior season, but if I get some more offers, I would probably need to take some official visits in order to see the other schools I haven't seen up close yet."

As a two-way standout for Liberty in 2010, Bafaro posted 659 yards on 66 carries and also hauled in 27 receptions for 373 yards and scored a total of 10 touchdowns while posting 78 tackles, 13 tackles-for-loss and four sacks.

We will continue to keep track of Bafaro in the coming weeks and we'll update news as it happens.
