How solid is Jackson?

When Mount Miguel (Spring Valley, Ca.) DL Malcolm Jackson committed to Washington, he had a handful of offers to his name and hadn't been to Montlake. Now, he's up to six offers total and more could be on the way. spoke to the talented defensive line prospect recently to check in and also find out how firm he is in his commitment to the Huskies...

"Things have been going good. I'm just getting ready for my season and working out," Jackson told "I have offers from Arizona, San Diego State, Nevada, UCLA, Army and Arizona State is talking about offering and I have UNLV that likes me too."

Jackson, who totaled 30 tackles, five sacks, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble as a junior last fall, said he currently weighs in at 265 pounds on his 6'3" frame and that the Husky coaches have told him they plan for him to play inside once he arrives at Washington.

"They definitely want me at defensive tackle," Jackson said. "They like my 'get off' and my quickness and how I use my hands.

"I'm working a lot on my quickness and strength this summer to get better and when I get to college I'd like to be about 280, but that's a ways down the road."

Speaking of being a ways down the road, Jackson said with all of the offers he has, he hasn't completely ruled out taking trips other than the official visit he plans to take to Montlake.

"I'd like to take some visits, but I'm committed to Washington for sure," Jackson said. "I haven't seen a lot of places yet, so I'd like to see what schools have to offer me, but I really like what the Washington coaches have done there and I'm coming up there (in August) to visit during fall camp so I can see it for myself.

"That will really show me what I'm in for and how things go up there. I really like the program they have and I feel like I could really enjoy my time there.

"I know people might get concerned that I might look around, but I'm strongly committed to Washington and I don't see that changing."

We'll check in with Jackson in the coming days as he gets closer to making his trek north next month and we'll update news as it happens.
