Lemke sees recruiting pick up

The state of Washington is loaded with talent this year and that means that some very good players have gone a bit overlooked. One that hasn't been talked about as much as he probably should have been is Issaquah TE Eric Lemke, but lately the talented prospect has seen an uptick in recruiting and several schools have told him they are very interested in what he brings to the table...

"Right now I still have just the one offer from Idaho, but there are a lot of schools talking to me," Lemke told Dawgman.com on Tuesday. "Washington obviously is talking to me a lot and I've been hearing a lot from UCLA, Washington State, Boise State, a little from Colorado, and then a little bit from Oregon and Oregon State.

"Utah just started contacting me recently too, so things have picked up pretty good, but I'm still waiting for some more offers."

Due to his size and strength, Lemke is an ideal H-Back candidate and he said several schools have said that is where they envision him contributing should he end up signing with them.

"Washington likes me as an H-Back/Fullback so that's something I've talked to them about a lot," Lemke said. "UCLA likes me as a tight end and everyone else seems to like me as an H-Back.

"This year I'll be more of a receiver than I've been in our offense, so that is going to be a big key for me this year. I'll get a couple of games on film and start sending those out after our season starts and that's what a lot of those schools are looking for from me."

Lemke said he hopes to get more offers and then take some visits before he decides.

"I was really hoping to get enough offers so I could make my decision before the start of my season, but that isn't really going to happen, so I'll take some visits and then decide as long as I get some more offers," Lemke said. "I'm definitely taking an official visit to Idaho before I decide because I want that experience, but after that, I'm not sure who I will visit."

Lemke said Boise State, UCLA and Washington have talked to him about enrolling early and that is a possibility for him.

"The only two core classes I have left to take are my language and my english and I guess some guys have graduated early by just taking their finals early," Lemke said. "Those three schools would like me in early and I think it will be an option for me, but I'm not that far into it yet."

Lemke plans to visit Washington this afternoon to take in his first practice of fall camp and then on Wednesday he and his Issaquah teammates will begin their fall camp.

"I'm so excited to get started," Lemke said. "It's hard to believe it's my senior year and it's almost over, but I have this season to do something special and I think we have a good team this year so we'll see what happens."
