Dawgman.com A's Little League Team update

The A's rebounded from a loss on Tuesday to the south hill division leading Blue Jays by squeaking past the Cardinals 7-6 on Thursday evening. The A's record now stands at 12 wins and 4 losses.

The A's picked up three runs in the second inning highlighted by a double belted into right field by Sam that knocked in Trevor who had led off the inning with a single.

Four more runs were added in the third inning. With one out Trevor reached first base safely on a fielding error. Corbin then doubled to center scoring Trevor. Sam followed with his second hit and RBI of the game as Corbin crossed the plate. Brian came up next and bounced a single up the middle driving home Sam. Chris added the fourth hit of the inning and eventually scored on a ground out by Kyle.

The score now stood at 7-0 with the Cards coming to bat in the bottom of the third. Sean had pitched a scoreless first two innings, but the Cardinals bats came alive as five runs were scored tightening up the game.

A new pitcher entered the game for the Cards in the top of the fourth and proceeded to shut down the A's bats for the remainder of the game.

Matt came in to pitch for the A's in the bottom of the fourth and the Cards pushed one more run across the plate making the score 7-6 in the A's favor. Matt held the Cards scoreless in the fifth, and then the drama started in the bottom of the sixth.

Starting the inning with the one run lead Matt walked the lead off hitter. The next batter hit a grounder to Benji at second who fielded the ball cleanly, flipped it to the short stop Kyle who caught it, stepped on second and fired to Beau at first to complete a beautiful double play. With two down Matt walked the next batter. The Cards number three hitter came to the plate and hit a grounder that snuck through infield and rolled into the outfield. With the tying run on third and winning run standing at second Matt struck out the Cardinals cleanup hitter to end the game.
