Trip Report - Demarquise Johnson caught up with Demarquise Johnson, a 6-foot-5, 185-pound wing/small forward prospect from Windward Academy in Phoenix. Johnson was in Seattle this past weekend on his official visit to Washington. Where do the Huskies stand in his recruitment?

"Coach Romar showed me around, and then I played with the team," Johnson said of his visit. "Shawn Kemp is good. The trip was good. I liked it a lot. They told me how coach Romar coaches and how he is and stuff."

Did anything catch Johnson off-guard on his trip? "It's a lot bigger than what I thought," he said of the school.

The Huskies have been recruiting Johnson for a while now, having offered him at the end of last year. They've made his final four, and now are just waiting for the final returns to come in. When will he make his commitment known? "Probably within the next month or so," he said.

UW has definitely made their push. "First it was coach Shaw, he called me when the summer ended," Johnson said. "He's cool too. I like him a lot. Then Romar called me the rest of the time. They said I remind them of Terrence Ross. I fit in good because they always have long, athletic wings that can shoot."

When asked about his game, Johnson characterized it as 'Shooting, getting to the rim, and scoring'.

Has he's narrowed his final choice down at all, especially in light of this last visit? It doesn't sound like it. "I have no idea, but Washington is up there," he said.

Johnson has already taken official visits to Washington State and Gonzaga and will take his final visit to UNLV on October 8th.
