Husky Commit Recaps: Week #4

Several of Washington's 17 commitments had an off week, but a couple put up big numbers as they enter the fifth week of their senior seasons. Here's a look at how they fared last week as well as their seasons totals thus far...

Vista Murrieta (Murrieta, Ca.) DE/LB Jeremy Castro - Castro had a huge game while helping the Broncos beat Los Osos 30-21. The talented defensive end posted nine tackles and two sacks while also providing pressure all night on the opposing quarterback.

Season Totals: 20 tackles, 3 sack, 8 tackle-for-loss.

Kennedy (Burien, Wa.) S/QB Jason Thompson - Thompson did not play in Kennedy's 55-7 win over Evergreen as head coach Bob Bourgette decided to play many of his younger players to get them valuable experience.

Muir (Pasadena, Ca.) RB Tairen Owens - Bye.

Season Stats: 162 yards rushing; 5 receptions for 131 yards, 1 TD; 5 punt returns for 120 yards (24 yd. average).

Orange (Ca.) Lutheran S/DB Darien Washington - Orange Lutheran overcame a 16-point halftime deficit to come back and get a thrilling 30-24 overtime win over La Habra. Washington had a solid evening, posting six tackles, one forced fumble and two passes defensed in the win.

Juanita (Kirkland, Wa.) OL Nathan Dean - Juanita got back in the winner's column with a 35-14 win over Sammamish last week.

Mercer Island (Wa.) QB Jeff Lindquist - Lindquist only played one series on the Islanders' 41-7 win over Interlake, opting to let his backup get some valuable snaps and rest up for Mercer Islands big game this week against Bellevue.
Season Totals: 60 of 105 for 732 yards, 6 TD, 2 INT; 52 carries for 308 yards, 7 TDs.

Hamilton (Chandler, Az.) WR/RB/DB Kendyl Taylor Taylor didn't put up big numbers, but did have a touchdown in Hamilton's 30-7 win over Mesquite. On the night, the Husky commit had three carries for nine yards and hauled in six passes for 55 yards and a touchdown and also had one kickoff return for 37 yards.

Season Totals: 23 carries, 192 yard, 2 TD; 36 rec., 394 yards, 3 TD; 2 kickoff returns for 105 yards; 30 yd average on 2 punt returns.

Bellarmine Prep (Tacoma, Wa.) WR/DB Michael Rector - Rector's skills were on display on both sides of the ball in Bellarmine Prep's 41-7 shellacking of Mt. Tahoma. Rector hauled in three receptions for 41 yards and a touchdown on offense and posted five tackles (four solo) on defense including two touchdown-saving stops where he tracked down speedy playmakers on Mt. Tahoma's offense.

Tesoro (Las Flores, Ca.) LB Blake Rodgers - The Titans got to 3-1 with a 22-13 win over Narbonne and Rodgers was a big reason why posting nine tackles and a forced fumble.

Gahr (Cerritos, Ca.) WR Dwayne Washington Washington had another huge game as the Gladiators throttled Artesia 52-14. On the night, the senior wideout hauled in seven receptions for 160 yards and three touchdowns.

Gig Harbor (Wa.) K/P Korey Durkee - Durkee had plenty of kickoff chances in the Tides' 45-0 win over Stadium and notched six touchbacks in seven kickoffs and also tacked on a 38-yard field goal for good measure.

Season Stats: 5 for 6 on field goal attempts, long of 52 yards; 44.8 yards per punt; 18 touchbacks on kickoffs.

Colony (Ontario, Ca.) CB Bryan Harper In Colony's 21-14 win over Nowalk, Harper continued to show his skills on defense, posting five tackles and three passes defensed in the win.

Season Stats: 20 tackles, 1 INT, 11 passes defensed; 11 of 17, 142 yards, 1 TD; 9 carries, 107 yards.

Mullen (Denver, Co.) QB Cyler Miles - Miles didn't do much in Mullen's 42-13 win over Cherry Creek last week, but had a solid night on Thursday against Bear Creek going 14 of 20 for 205 yards and one touchdown in Mullen's 34-18 win.

Season Stats: 67 of 92, 907 yards, 2 TDs, 4 INTs; 31 yards rushing.

Arcadia (Ca.) S Taylor Lagace - Lagace, and the rest of the starters, didn't see any action in the second half of Arcadia's 37-21 win over Temple City last week. Lagace did manage to post two receptions for 72 yards and also had three tackles in the win.

Season Totals: 18 rec., 317 yards, 4 TDs; 22 tackles, 1 INT, 1 sack.

St. Louis (Honolulu, Hi.) DE Kalei Auelua - There wasn't a lot of defense played in St. Louis' 42-35 win over Iolani last week. Auelua did post six tackles and a sack in the win.
