Trip Report: Ryan McDaniel

Torrance (Ca.) North RB Ryan McDaniel was in Seattle over the weekend to take his official visit and came away giving his trip to Washington a '9.5'. spoke to the talented two-way athlete and he updated us on things including how close he is to making a decision...

"It was a good visit, I'd say it's a 9 or 9.5," McDaniel told after returning from his trip. "Deontae Cooper was my host and we spent a lot of time together.

"We both have had knee injuries, so we talked about that and recovering and all that. He just said it's something you have to work through like anything else."

As far as the highlight of the visit, McDaniel said it was an easy choice.

"The game was great. I had a real good time," McDaniel said. "The crowd was loud and there were a lot of people there and of course the team played well so that was really good to see.

"I also spent a lot of time with the coaches and got to talk to all of them. They are great guys and they really made me feel welcome."

Before suffering a injury that tore all of the major ligaments in his knee, McDaniel was a two-way star for Torrance North and he has been offered to play on both sides of the ball by schools from up and down the west coast and across the country.

"Washington likes me at running back," McDaniel said. "They like me as a big back.

"I'm sorta undecided on whether I'd like to play running back or linebacker, but it will be just about how I fit in a program and the feel I get."

While McDaniel maintains the Huskies are his leader, he said he still plans to take all of his visits, meaning that Arizona State and USC, along with two other schools, will likely get official visits.

"Washington is still my leader, but I'm going to take all my visits before I make a decision," McDaniel said.

We will have more in the coming weeks and months as McDaniel draws closer to making a decision.
