Husky Commit Recaps: Week #8

The high school football regular season is heading down the home stretch and most of Washington's recruits are still in thick of the playoff hunt. Here is a look at how all 16 did last week as well as their cumulative stats for the season...

Mullen (Denver, Co.) QB Cyler Miles In a 48-24 win over Arapahoe, Miles went 19 of 25 for 275 yards and four touchdowns and also rushed for 37 yards and a touchdown.

Season Stats: 86 of 117, 1182 yards, 16 TDs, 4 INTs; 138 yards rushing, 2 TDs.

Bellarmine Prep (Tacoma, Wa.) WR/DB Michael Rector - Bellarmine Prep stayed perfect, but struggled offensively in a 15-14 win over Olympia. Rector did his best to help make things easier for the Lions, hauling in five receptions for 66 yards.

St. Louis (Honolulu, Hi.) DE Kalei Auelua - St. Louis lost 21-7 to Kamehameha and will finish their season tonight in showdown with Punahou. Last week, Auelua racked up 11 tackles, five tackles-for-loss, two sacks and a forced fumble.

Season Stats: 61 tackles, 20 sacks, 5 forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries both for touchdowns

Gahr (Cerritos, Ca.) WR Dwayne Washington The Gladiators fell for the second-straight week, dropping a 51-21 decision to Downey. Washington was shut down most of the night, hauling in just three receptions for 20 yards.

Cajon (San Bernardino, Ca.) CB/RB Damontae Kazee - Kazee had a solid night for Cajon in a 27-25 loss to Rialto, hauling in four receptions for 75 yards and a touchdown, rushing for 63 yards and another score and posted five tackles and four passes defensed.

Season Totals: 516 yards rushing, 6 TDs; 26 rec., 380 yards, 6 TD; 20 tackles, 17 passes defensed.

Kennedy (Burien, Wa.) S/QB Jason Thompson - Thompson, along with the rest of the starters, sat for the second half of Kennedy's 62-8 win over Highline. However, when he was in he did manage to go 5 of 11 for 77 yards and one touchdown, while posting 42 yards rushing on offense and 4 tackles.

Season Totals: 43 of 78 pass attempts for 608 yards with 10 TDs and 3 INTs; 257 yards rushing, 3 TDs; 63 tackles, 2 sack, 3 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, 2 interception, 2 TD

Mount Miguel (Spring Valley, Ca.) DT Malcolm Jackson Mount Miguel destroyed El Cajon Valley 55-3 and Jackson had a big night, posting eight tackles, four tackles-for-loss and two sacks.

Season Stats: 37 tackles, 14 tackles-for-loss, 9 sacks

Colony (Ontario, Ca.) CB Bryan Harper Colony beat Chaffey 35-8 and Harper was a big contributor, going 6 of 7 for 91 yards and a touchdown and rushing for 85 yards and another score on offense while posting six tackles and an interception on defense.

Season Stats: 38 tackles, 2 INTs, 16 passes defensed; 25 of 32, 311 yards, 3 TDs; 38 carries, 294 yards, 4 TDs.

Tesoro (Las Flores, Ca.) LB Blake Rodgers The Titans beat Trabuco Hills 26-14. Waiting on stats.

Gig Harbor (Wa.) K/P Korey Durkee Durkee went 6 of 6 on extra points, but didn't have any field goal attempts and averaged 45.4 yards per punt in the Tides' 42-6 win over Shelton last week.

Season Stats: 9 for 10 on field goal attempts, long of 52 yards; 45.0 yards per punt; 34 touchbacks on kickoffs.

Mercer Island (Wa.) QB Jeff Lindquist The Islanders blasted Sammamish 45-6 and Lindquist managed to go 11 of 20 for 110 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 115 yards and another score.

Season Totals: 104 of 192 for 1,430 yards, 15 TDs, 7 INT; 90 carries for 570 yards, 11 TDs.

Juanita (Kirkland, Wa.) OL Nathan Dean - Juanita got back in the win column, slamming Lake Washington 48-0. Dean helped lead the way for the Rebels' 300 yards rushing on the night.

Hamilton (Chandler, Az.) WR/RB/DB Kendyl Taylor – The Huskies remained perfect on the season, blowing out Basha 44-14 and Taylor as a big reason why, posting six receptions for 100 yards and carrying the ball 15 times for 130 yards and a touchdown in the win.

Season Totals: 59 carries, 320 yards, 5 TD; 53 rec., 689 yards, 6 TD; 2 kickoff returns for 105 yards; 30 yd average on 2 punt returns.

Muir (Pasadena, Ca.) RB Tairen Owens Muir handled business in a 49-10 win over Glendale last week and Owens got things started early taking back a punt 62 yards to set up the Mustangs' first score while also rushing for 124 yards and another score while hauling in two receptions for 60 more yards.

Season Stats: 524 yards rushing, 2 TD; 15 receptions for 299 yards, 3 TD; 15 punt returns for 254 yards (24 yd. average).

Orange (Ca.) Lutheran S/DB Darien Washington - For the second-straight week the Lancers faced one of the top teams in the Golden State and for the second-straight week they dropped a game falling to Santa Margarita 31-10. Washington had a solid game posting six tackles and two passes defensed from his safety spot.

Season Stats: 50 tackles; 13 passes defensed, 3 forced fumble, 2 fumble recoveries, 1 sack, 1 interception

Arcadia (Ca.) S Taylor Lagace Arcadia ground out almost 300 yards in a 49-7 win, so Lagace didn't have many opportunities to catch passes, but did manage to haul in two receptions for 22 yards and also posted five tackles and an interception.

Season Totals: 45 rec., 654 yards, 7 TDs; 31 tackles, 2 INT, 2 sack.
