Trip Report - Matt Cochran

One of the top interior offensive line prospects on the West Coast as well as Washington's recruiting board is Buhach Colony (Atwater, Ca.) C Matt Cochran who took his official visit to Montlake this weekend. Dawgman.com caught up with the talented line prospect and he gave us his thoughts on his visit, a timeline for a decision, a new offer and what lies ahead in the coming weeks and months...

Cochran had just landed when he spoke with Dawgman.com and was effusive in his praise of the Husky faithful.

"The most impressive thing about the visit for me was the crowd noise and how loud it got when they blew that call and said the guy (Michael Hartvigson) didn't make the catch (at the goal line)," Cochran said. "It was so loud, you couldn't hear someone even if they were standing right next to you and those fans were really into it.

"I mean, all the guy did was catch the pass with both hands, he took about five or six steps and then he falls and the ball comes out. What do you have to do to get a call on that?"

Cochran's host, redshirt freshman DE Andrew Hudson, collected his first career sack in the win over Arizona as well.

"He had a great game and was bringing it all night," Cochran said. "His speed-rush off the edge is really hard to deal with and he's going to have a lot of success if he keeps playing like he did.

"My brother (Aaron Cochran) spent a lot of time with us and, even though he had to pay for everything, he still got the same feel for the school and that was really cool for him to have," Cochran said. "I got to see the facilities and their plans for things in the future and I just spoke a lot with the coaches too.

"Since I had already been up there before and I know the coaches really well, it was great not just talking football with them, but also getting a feel for them as people and letting them get to know me a little better too.

"My dad (a pastor) couldn't make it because he had to preach today, but he joined me in the summer, so my mom got to go and she really liked it a lot too.

"Overall, I'd give it a nine and say that it was a great visit."

Cochran has two more visits scheduled - California on 12/2 and Utah on 1/13 - and said he recently was offered by Tennessee and he that he'd like to head to Knoxville for a visit as well.

"They just offered and that's a school I'm really interested in seeing too," Cochran said. "I'm going to take all my visits and then make my decision, so it won't be until the middle or end of January, but it will definitely be before Signing Day."

We will have more from Cochran in the future and will update news as it happens with his recruitment.
