Junior to watch - Kyle Carson

Kyle Carson is a 6-6, 212-pound quarterback from Longview (Wash.) Mark Morris, and the two-sport star transferred last season from Castle Rock. Because of that transfer and subsequent issues surrounding the Mark Morris baseball team, Kyle has been unable to play the sports that he loves so much.

"I haven't been able to play football or baseball this past year, and it's been tough," Carson told TheInsiders. "And I also had my maniscus repaired in my knee. It was a 5-month recovery, but now I'm fully healed and ready to go."

Besides his physical therapy, Carson has also been working with Ryan Paul of New Athlete sports specific training. He currently runs a 4.8 40, benches 225 pounds and jumps 29 inches in the vertical.

And despite missing an entire season in both sports, that hasn't stopped coaches in football and scouts in baseball from contacting Carson. "A regional scout for the (Colorado) Rockies has been in contact with me," Kyle said. "And both Montana and Idaho came by school to talk to my coaches. Montana called me and told me they are interested in me."

Oregon is another school that has been by Mark Morris, and Michigan State, Stanford, Michigan, Oregon State and California are all colleges that have shown interest in Kyle.

He has no standing offers at this point.

Carson is starting up Longview Senior Babe Ruth ball soon. He's a pitcher with three out pitches (fastball, curve and changeup), and tops out his heater in the high 80's. "I'll be heading up to the Baseball Factory this summer," he said.

Even with summer baseball right around the bend and even some summer basketball too, football is still a priority for Kyle. "I've been invited to try out for the Elite 11 camp, so we'll be going to Las Vegas at the end of June," he said. "I'll also be going to the Nike camp in Seattle and maybe the Washington camp if I can. I was also invited to junior days at Washington, Oregon, Oregon State and Colorado."

He took advantage of the Huskies' invite. "It was a lot of fun up there," Carson said. "Coach Neuheisel is a great guy, a real character. We got a chance to check out the campus."

Stanford, Washington and Washington State were three schools Kyle mentioned when thinking about official visits. "Really anybody in the Northwest," he added.
