ATH Ready For Bounce Back Season

One of the most versatile players on the West Coast next year will be Slade Norris out of Portland (Ore.) Jesuit. Norris missed just about his entire junior season after breaking his collarbone in the first game of the season but colleges are still well aware of who he is and what kind of player he'll be.

At 6-2, 210 pounds Norris could end up at several positions in college. His size and athleticism is similar to Orange Lutheran's (Calif.) Anthony Vernaglia, one of the top recruits from Cali in the class of 2004.

Norris plays wide receiver and defensive back in high school but could end up at linebacker in college as he's sure to get bigger and stronger as he gets older and continues to mature. In fact, when he turned in his Nike Camp questionnaire, Norris actually listed his likely college position as linebacker.

On the recruiting front, Norris is hearing from most of the Pac 10 along with Syracuse, Nebraska, Colorado and Wisconsin.

"Right now my top five is Stanford, Washington, Arizona State, Colorado and UCLA," Norris said. "I'm looking for a school with a good combination of academics and athletics as well as a nice location. I'm planning to go to the Nike Camp at Oregon and I'm also considering team camps at Stanford, Washington, Oregon and Colorado."

Academically, Norris is carrying a 3.45 GPA and will take the SAT later in the year. Top Stories
